Description
This is a 1990 Chevy Blazer Silverado Package. Second to last year for the iconic square body GM 1-ton trucks and SUV's. Factory Victory red exterior with the light gray interior. This is a difficult-to-find color combination. Most of the red exterior trucks had a red interior. This started out as a clean, stock Blazer with all of the emissions equipment intact. It passes the stringent Colorado A.I.R. program easily. It has a clean body and the fenders have not been cut or rolled. I added the lift, tires and wheels, axles as well as numerous other exterior, interior, and engine upgrades that I've listed below. Unless otherwise noted, all of these upgrades were done in the last 300 miles. It has not been off-road since the completion of the build.The engine, trans, and transfer case are essentially stock. P.O. stated the engine and trans were rebuilt about 70k ago. I do not have any documentation confirming this. I do know it looks to have been a clean install. The engine and trans run and shifts well and feel like a strong combination. I have not had any problems with either of them. The trans is the 700R4 four-speed auto. The transfer case is the sought after New Process 241C. P.O. also stated the T-case was recently gone through with a new chain and bearing kit. There is evidence of that as well with the orange sealant on the back half of the case. I replaced the tail shaft cover, sleeve, and seal due to it leaking. With the new driveshaft and slip yoke combo, I wanted to make sure it sealed up correctly.
It has the factory fuel-injected 350TBI which has had an extensive tune-up. New cap, rotor, plugs, plug wires, ICM, Accel super coil, EGR, fuel relay, completely rebuilt throttle body with new injectors and accelerator pump, New HD battery and HD cables, new tensioner pulleys, filters, oil, radiator, O2, and water temp sensors and several other sensors, etc, etc.
The grill, turn indicators, marker, and brake lights are all new.
The factory 10 bolt axles were removed in favor of better, rebuilt, and upgraded axles.
Front Dana 44 axle:
- Stripped and rebuilt with a new Timken master kit.
- New 4.09 Ring and Pinion. Correctly set up with excellent drive and coast patterns.
- New G2 lockout hubs.
- New crush sleeve eliminator.
- New Wheel bearings.
- New Calipers.
- New Pads.
- Rotors were turned.
- New stainless braided and extended brake lines.
- New high capacity, finned aluminum cover for increased cooling. Filled with Mobil 1 Synthetic.
- New Stabilizer.
- New raised steering arm to account for the lift.
- New Drag link.
- Caster and camber are correct. No bump steer.
- New alignment to top it off.
Rear GM 12 bolt axle:
- Stripped and rebuilt with a new Timken master kit.
- New 4.10 Ring and Pinion. Correctly set up with excellent drive and coast patterns.
- New ARB Air Locker. (It will need the ARB or Yukon compressor added at some point but they are reasonably priced.)
- New crush sleeve eliminator.
- New high capacity, finned aluminum cover for increased cooling. Filled with Mobil 1 Synthetic.
- Shoes are nearly new.
- Braided and extended brake line.
Suspension:
- 6" Skyjacker soft ride.
- Poly bushings throughout.
- ORD Kevlar frame bushings.
ORD steering box cross brace. This frame did not have and does not have any cracks so the brace was added as a preventative measure.
- ORD HD shackles on the front springs. These are complete with oversized, greasable shackle bolts. These are .25 over stock height to prevent the spring from contacting the frame.
- ORD quick disconnects for the sway bar with new Energy Suspension poly bushings.
- Sway bar drop blocks on the frame side with new Energy Suspension poly bushings.
- ORD steel shims and hardened center pins on the back springs to correct the pinion angle.
- New custom rear driveshaft. Heavy wall tubing with a Dana/Spicer double Cardan joint at the T-case. This has the 1350 joints in the DC. This style of driveshaft with the correct pinion angle equates to no vibrations.
- The transfer case
WAS NOT LOWERED
. This is never a good idea and should never be done on these trucks. Correct pinion angle and a quality custom driveshaft will eliminate driveline vibrations.
- All new shocks and boots for the old-school look. The Blazer was ordered with the "Auxiliary" shock option or double shocks in the front. I kept the doubles up front and it rides great!
- New Tires and wheels. 35" BF Goodrich tires on a 15" Raceline wheel. This keeps with the classic look and provides excellent ride quality.
Interior:
Mostly stock. No holes drilled in the dash for switches or other crappy items and the doors have not been cut up for speakers. Since this is a loaded Silverado package, it was ordered with most options. Additionally, the following was done to the interior:
- New, year-correct seat covers from LMC.
- New Billet grab handles on the doors. Much better than the original vinyl pull straps which always seem to tear loose or pop the caps off.
- New aluminum door strips, dash overlay, and a few vents along with a LED light bulb upgrade in the gauge cluster.
- New Lecarra Mark 9 steering wheel, adapter, and horn button. This is wrapped in gray leather and it is the thick grip version. Very comfortable wheel.
- The headliner and door panels are in good shape.
This truck looks, runs, and rides, great. It gets a lot of compliments when I take it out. These are becoming harder and harder to find in this condition as there are not a lot of clean ones left on the road. Solid wheel wells, rockers, and lower door panels are a big plus when shopping for these trucks. If you've been in the market for one and have been looking, you'll know what I mean. This truck is a clean example of one of the final years of production for the full-size, square body Blazer. This is a 31-year-old truck and although it presents very well, I think it still needs a few things but this is subjective. Those are:
- The dash has a dash cover over it. They're "OK" but they look like a cover and if I were to keep it I would put in a new dash pad or have this one redone.
- The paint has had one re-spray sometime before me owning it. It has some chips and some cracks with the majority of the chips along the nose of the hood. They have been touched up. I'd rate the paint as a 7-8. It has a couple of bubbles in the paint on the very lower rear passenger fender, down low behind the wheel well underneath where the bumper wraps around the body. I took a pic of it with a scale next to it so you can judge that for yourself. The backside of the fender is smooth so I believe it is under the paint only. There is another spot on the support plate on the passenger side inner fender where they always seem to get it. Again, it is only on this plate and has not gotten into the inner fender itself. It's solid.
- The two back slider windows have a small crack in them on the front slider. It doesn't affect the operation, just the look. I may have another set of sliders in my parts inventory but I'm not sure. If I have them I'll toss them in with the deal.
- The E-Brake cables need to be hooked up. I have a new Dorman 2 into one adjustable slider which I'll include. It's new in the box. I just haven't had the time to tinker with it.
- The oil pan has a leak. It will need to be addressed and that was on the list when the next oil change was due.
- The very back interior side panels are showing their age as 31-year-old cardboard and vinyl will do. See pic.
- The windows are a little slower than I'd like. They have been greased and oiled and do okay but I would put in the relay kit from LMC to get them moving quickly.
- One speaker in the dash is not working. They are new so I believe a wire may be disconnected.
Overall, my opinion is the truck has had the majority of the heavy lifting done. It started with a clean truck in a desirable color combination and everything that was added were quality parts that exceed factory pieces. The axles, suspension, tires, wheels, engine upgrades, and everything else would cost a ton after sourcing it all, getting it rebuilt, and then installed correctly. These costs add up very quickly. All of that has been done to this truck. The items listed as needing attention are cosmetic or minor to the degree that someone can tinker with them while still enjoying the truck.
It has been another fun square body build but I just don't have the time to drive it as much as I had thought. It has about 300 miles on it since it was completed. I have a few other projects that I'm trying to finish up, which have been taking up my time. I am hoping this goes to another enthusiast that can appreciate it and enjoy it like I have since they are only going up in value each year. It's not a bad investment that you can actually enjoy, today.
Depending on what you're looking for, it may exceed or not meet your expectations. Because of that, I would encourage you to look at it in person. I won't allow any drives while it is for sale but you can feel free to set up a time to look at it in person so you know what it is. If you'd like to send a qualified inspector from an inspection service that would also work. I'm not showing it to your cousins' brother who thinks they know everything about square bodies. I've been down that road before and I'm not going there again.
Although the pictures show the truck with some dust on it, please review them as they should help with your assessment of the truck.
I have tried to list as much information as possible since this is an older vehicle and there are always a lot of questions surrounding these older trucks. But regardless, if you have additional questions please ask before placing a bid.
RESERVE:
This is a reserve auction. The reserve is in place for a reason. Please don't ask what it is. It is very reasonable considering the condition of the truck and what has been invested to get it here today.
PAYMENT:
A 0.00 non-refundable deposit will be due within 24hours of the auction's end date and time via PayPal. The remainder will be due via bank wire transfer within 7 calendar days from auctions end date and time. If the outstanding balance is not resolved in that time frame, you will forfeit your deposit and I will relist the truck. The title and all associated documents, will not be released until the truck has been paid in full and the payment has been verified as valid and has cleared. I reserve the right to end the auction early before the reserve is met if the vehicle is no longer for sale.
SHIPPING:
The buyer will make arrangements for shipping and vehicle pick up within 10 calendar days from auctions end date and time. If you're serious about the truck then you should look into quotes and their availability well before the auction ends. I will assist on my end in meeting with the transport company of the buyer's choice but in the end, it is the buyer who arranges for and makes payment to, the carrier of their choice. I have shipped and received several vehicles over the years so I have some experience in this area of what to expect. Finally, eBay references U-Ship under their shipping tab. They automatically put that information there. I do not have any experience using this company so please keep that in mind and do your due diligence when deciding who to use.
Finally, this auction is for the CONUS only.
