Hildegard Gunzel WOP dolls “The Reading Mother”
This beautiful poem inspired Hildegard to sculpt this incredibly lovely pair.
You may have tangible wealth untold
Caskets of jewels, and coffers of gold
Richer than I you can never be
I had a mother who read to me.
This set was never actually displayed!!!! This will belong to a very lucky collector.The mother’s silk skirt is wrinkled from being stored. I believe this is the only mother daughter she sculpted.
The detail on each doll is exquisite. From the silk dresses to the antique lace sleeves. They also came with a needlepoint stool. The only other sets I have seen have been in museums. Only 10 in the world!!
I have the original certificate and the original mailer boxes.
