LORING ANDREWS VINTAGE REPOUSSE STERLING SILVER PITCHERWelcome to this auction for a stunning sterling silver repousse pitcher by Loring Andrews, born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1854 and died there in 1921. His is listed as a jeweler in the Cincinnati, Ohio censuses from 1880 to 1920. He is listed in Cincinnati directories as a clerk and a salesman at 58 W. 4th from 1874 to 1886 and a salesman at Everett E. Isbell & Co, Jewelers from 1887 to 1894. Loring Andrews and Co, is listed in the 1896 Cincinnati directory which gives them an approximate startup year of 1895.
For your consideration is this lovely pitcher which stands 7 1/4" tall and is 6 1/4" wide. It has appealing proportions with a wide spout and a graceful and elegant handle. The piece is monogrammed with the letters EWL nicely framed with surrounding leaves. Elaborate flowers flow down the sides. The round base compliments the pitcher with close knit vertical lines which can also be found around the inner and outer lip at the top but more generously separated.
