    Description

Up for purchase is a hardback copy in a dust jacket of
    My Adventures in Zuñi
by Frank H. Cushing. It was published in a limited edition of 1950 copies in 1,970 by the American West Publishing Company in Palo Alto, CA. The book measures 8 x 11-inches in size, and contains 125 pages. See photos for more details.
Cushing was an interesting fellow. He got himself stranded among the Zuni, when his Smithsonian expedition left him behind. Stuck with him, the Zuni decided to turn him into a Zuni, which they did even to the point of him joining one of their secret societies. He finally returned to Washington, DC in full Zuni attire much to the chagrin of his colleagues. Consequently, his subsequent publications focused only on their material life. This book, however, documents his transition and the ordeals he went through during his transformation into a Zuni. A very interesting read of his acculturation process.
