Description
Up for your consideration is a Top Notch piece of Hopi Overlay technique. Presented here is a Hopi Native Manuel Hoyungowa (ca. 1953-2011) Sterling Silver Overlay Claw Belt Buckle. The buckle is impression marked on the back with his Double Strong Raincloud Makers Mark. The highly collectible buckle measures approx. 3 inches wide and 2 3/8 inches wide. The Vintage Native American Hopi Buckle is in good condition with some light surface marks.Manuel Hoyungowa was from the
village of Hotevilla on Third Mesa. He was an active silversmith at Hopi Pueblo since the 1970s. Manuel was a Silversmith Master Hopi Jeweler utilizing the traditional Hopi Overlay technique. His technical precision in Hopi Overlay technique was masterful. It was a loss to the craft when he passed away at age of 58. This beautiful piece was acquired recently at an Estate Sale.
